Grim Realisation / Negligence
Global warming is one of the biggest threats that this generation are going to be dealing with in our lifetimes. This Is close to a world disease which could wipe us all out, otherwise known as a human killer. This is so serious that we are almost blind to all the consequences that we are doing each day. Just powering up your computer is taking huge amounts of energy which is supplied by burning coal or wood and letting off harmful gases which pollute the air around us.
After watching All Gore doing a very well presented talk, there was a grim realisation about the fact we are destroying the world we inhabit. And we are doing very little to stop that fact. The dangers are right there and some of those are the ice caps are melting which will raise the sea level to an all-time high. This will engulf the low lying parts of all countries around the world meaning millions of people homeless. The treat of lack of food for everyone is another large concern to humanity. As the population is growing at an alarming rate to what can be grown in fields, sometime in the near future food demand will be too high and starvation will come into effect.
But even though we know this and some of the population is doing something about this, there is a huge percentage doing nothing about this or in other words being negligent. Knowing what we now about how we are destroying the planet without industry, it’s our obligation or wake up call to actively do something about this otherwise we are knowingly killing our planet.
Companies all over the planet are doing changes to their ways of working to make this world a little cleaner. Say for instance a business imports less from overseas and buys products close to that hub; this is consuming less fossil fuel from cargo ships or trucks for the transportation of that product. This in turn will be advertised by that company and will be heard by potential clients or the public. Seeing that a company is changing its method of getting even just one product has the effect of making people understand just a little bit that this global warming issue effects everyone.
There will come a point where no matter what we do this cannot be changed by any solution we come up with. We have to act drastically now otherwise we are destroying this planet and we know we are doing this. This I thought was the main and most disturbing point made in the presentation, so I choose to expand on this as this is a very real threat we face.
