Introduction: what packaging is about
Packaging is exceptionally important and is omnopresent in our world. "Virtually everything grown or manufactured is packaged in some fashion. It is necessary for our modern lifestyles. It is decorative. It is a salesman. It is a protective screen".
- It must protect the product from physical, chemical and microbiological invasion.
- It must provide a medium or presenting advertising messages and other important information to consumers, This is where concept research can help identify the specific information that most strongly influences consumers.
- It is one of the greatest influences on a consumers decision to try a product.
Review
When reading this piece i found it very helpful to my understanding on why packaging is used to sell the product. The 3 key points mentioned above are the more refined summerys of what needs to be done when designing a good piece of packaing. Protection of the most products has to be your first consideration as if you cannot give the buyer the product in a safe condition then why desing the packaging in the first place.
The way concept research can help you when designing is where you have to know who your audince is. Because if you create a great piece an find out you havent taken into account a critical piece of evidence then your product will not sell as you have aged it at a deifferent audince then you should have.
Reading the way the packaging design is allmost based on how much the actuall product cost was interesting as i thought that this didnt happen. Just becuase a product cost a pound compared to its rivals which are ten times more expensive. I am going to not take into account of this part of my researh as i dont want to design something just based on the price.
